Titleist 735.CM (Stainless Steel) Irons

Titleist 735.CM Iron Set (Stainless steel) (Also available in chrome carbon steel)

Titleist 735.CM Golf Clubs

Description:
The Titleist forged 735.CM irons feature a blended design (Titleist’s first blended set) for the skilled player seeking the ideal combination of shot control, maneuverability and playability. Designed as a seamlessly blended set, Titleist Forged 735.CM irons have continuity in performance and aesthetics for a fluid transition from long to short irons.

The 735’s feature a modified bore-through design that is designed to remove unecessary mass from the hosel. However, it’s not a true bore-thru as the shaft doesn’t extend through the club, instead a plastic plug is inserted into the bottom of the hosel. The result is more weight behind the actual hitting area and around the back of the club to create optimal centers of gravity and launch trajectories.

The 735’s are a “combo/blended set”. What does that mean?

Cavity Back Long Irons - Cavity back 2, 3 and 4 irons produce easy-up launch conditions for a high, penetrating ball flight with greater playability and forgiveness.

Shallow Cavity Mid Irons - 5-7 Shallow cavity mid irons deliver the ideal blend of maneuverability and playability required to access tough pin locations.

Muscle Back Short Irons - 8-PW Muscle back short irons offer skilled players precise trajectory, spin and shot control into and around the greens.

I replaced the stock TT Dynamic Golf S-300 shafts w/ a set of Rifle 5.5 steel shafts.

I also switched the Tour Velvet grips to the Golf Pride Multi-Compounds.

I’ve played about 8 rounds with these clubs and I love them more each time I use them. They’re surprisingly forgiving for a so-called “player’s club”. Mishits definitely register but the shot isn’t a complete loss as it might be w/ some of the other similar sets.

They look great w/ a very thin progressive topline w/ no offset. Pured shots are rewarded with an almost Mizuno-like buttery feel.

Distance control and accuracy are both what you would expect from Titleist.

I previously owned a set of Ben Hogan FTX (combo) irons. And the 735’s are definitely better clubs in just about every category. The Hogans were a bit softer but the Titleists offer a much better all-around feel.

I would definitely recommend these clubs for anyone who prefers classic “blade style” clubs w/ a degree of forgiveness not offered by the 670-style blades.

Overall Score: 9/10
